The Yankees have reached the offseason many believed would see them make monumental moves that push them back to the head of the pack in the American League as they aim for a 28th World Series title.

Here is an update of rumors surrounding the Yankees pursuits, followed by my take on how things currently stand and may shake out…

Machado visits Yankee Stadium, dines with club

Free agent infielder Manny Machado, his wife and agent met with the Yankees, who were represented by GM Brian Cashman, manager Aaron Boone and likely others. The meeting lasted approximately 90 minutes, with Machado then dining with an undisclosed group of Yankees brass, per a tweet by Fancred's Jon Heyman.

MY TAKE >> These visits to the stadium with scoreboard Photoshop images seem overblown, especially with Machado who has been there numerous times as an opponent. This wasn't the first time that Cashman has spoken with Machado's agent Dan Lozano and likely won't be the last. The fervor over the length of time for the meeting was ill-placed, especially after finding out there was a dinner event that provides a better chance to get to know Machado than a sit down business gathering.

This process will continue in Philadelphia Thursday (he's already met with the White Sox) and while Heyman noted in the same tweet that there are no mystery teams involved, that could change if Machado feels he is not being offered a deal he feels he deserves. After the meeting with the Phillies, it will be interesting to see what information spills out about potential offers and if the Yankees remain at the top of the 26-year-old's list. The bigger question might be if the Yankees are willing to escalate bidding into the $300 million area, which they have said they would not.

Yankees among several teams that attended Tulowitzki workout

Yahoo Sports' Tim Brown reported that free agent shortstop Troy Tulowitzki held a private workout for interested clubs, with the Yankees among the attendees.

The Yanks continue to formulate backup plans in case they do not sign Machado and it seems Tulowitzki is among the options. The Yankees have also shown interest in Josh Harrison, Freddy Galvis and Scooter Gennett this offseason as potential fallback options to fill the void left after shortstop Didi Gregorius' Tommy John surgery. Tulowitzki, 34, missed the entire 2018 season after playing in 66 games in 2017, and has continuously lost time due to injuries throughout his career. Tulowitzki was once one of the premier shortstops in the game, but now one has to wonder how much he has left in the tank and whether he would be an optimal choice for the Yankees.

Kluber still being shopped, Yankees left off list?

Contrary to recent presumptions, the Indians have continued discussions with clubs about trading right-handed starting pitcher Corey Kluber, according MLB Network's Jon Morosi.

MY TAKE >> After the Yankees signed J.A. Happ, there was the belief that if an elite starting pitcher was available on the trade market that the Yankees might show some interest. The Yanks had been connected to Kluber when the Indians were actively discussing a trade of the two time Cy Young Award winner. However, it looks as though the Yankees might not be part of the discussions any longer, which leads me to believe the price for the 32-year-old may be too steep for the Yankees at this time. Kluber's availability is surely something to keep an eye on especially if the Yankees sign Manny Machado, which could leave Miguel Andujar as a possible trade chip. The Yankees rotation is improved from 2018, however there are enough questions among the group to warrant keeping an eye on developments as the winter and then season progress.
