Yankees pitching prospect Deivi Garcia continued his dominance in the MLB Futures Game and was rewarded with a promotion.

Garcia, New York's fourth-ranked prospect, had a strikeout and reached 96.9 mph with his fastball, according to MILB.com's Sam Dykstra, in a 1-2-3 first inning for the American League.

"Wow," Garcia said, according to MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez. "There's so much energy out there. I had a lot of adrenaline. That was so was exciting."

Afterward, the Yankees revealed they were promoting the 20-year-old Garcia from Double-A Trenton to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

In back-to-back starts in mid-June, Garcia showed how dominant he could be. On June 18, he struck out 15 batters in six one-hit innings, and he followed that by recording nine strikeouts in five no-hit innings (in what would be a combined no-hitter) on June 24.

Overall, Garcia is 4-5 with a 3.01 ERA in 14 minor-league starts this year with 114 strikeouts in 68 2/3 innings. After starting the year with High-A Tampa, Garcia was promoted to Double-A Trenton, where he has a 4-3 record, a 3.00 ERA and 81 strikeouts in 51 innings.
