When the international signing period opened for all 30 MLB teams last year, the Dominican Republic's Jasson Dominguez was a highly-sought-after prospect for many reasons. But it was the Yankees that would eventually land the 16-year-old.
And Baseball America believes they hit the jackpot.
The publication put together their top 100 international prospect signings of 2019, and Dominguez was at the top of that list. He also ranks as their top prospect in the Yankees organization.
Dominguez earned a BA grade of 65, which is very high for someone at his age. But the evidence is there after doing their research, with the switch-hitting outfielder having tremendous power on both sides of the plate, insane speed, and a cannon for an arm.
Just look at this bomb from the right side of the plate...
The Jasson Dominguez accolades are endless.

✔ Plus-plus runner

He could even make his pro debut in the US this year.

You don't find 110-mph exit velocities from 16-year-olds. It just doesn't happen.
Turning 17 next month, Dominguez does have a high chance of making his pro debut in the Yankees system in 2020. His measurables are off the charts, and the Yankees would love to get his development going sooner rather than later. When MLB Pipeline calls him "a teenage Mike Trout," you know the Yanks are eager to see if he can live up to that hype.
