With all eyes on the Yankees' pursuit of Gerrit Cole and Stephen Strasburg, the team still has multiple free agents of their own that they are considering bringing back, including Brett Gardner and Didi Gregorius.

As SNY's Andy Martino reported Thursday, the Yankees remain optimistic about a reunion with Gardner even as their main offseason focus remains on pitching.

On Friday, Yankees GM Brian Cashman discussed the continued dialogue with the Gardner and Gregorius camps.

"We've been staying in touch with their agents," Cashman said, according to YES Network. "Obviously in free agency they've got a lot of considerations clearly and opportunities, but certainly if I could wave the magic wand, we'd love to have everybody back if possible."

"But if not, it's my job to line up alternatives, whether it's fallback to what we have or adjust and try something new."

Gregorius has been getting interest across the league, specifically from the Phillies, it was reported last month. Former Yankees manager and new Phillies skipper Joe Girardi told reporters earlier this week that he's "a big fan of Didi." Gregorius has also been linked to the Reds.

Aside from Gardner and Gregorius, the Yankees also have other noteworthy free agents in Dellin Betances and Austin Romine.

"Joe Bick is the agent for Gardy, I've stayed in touch with Joe. Jim Murray is the agent for Didi and Betances, we've stayed in touch there. Obviously Billy Rose is the agent for Romine. So it's just doing the dance that you have to do," Cashman said. "In each of these cases they're obviously really talented, quality, unbelievable people that opportunities are going to be presenting themselves both here and elsewhere."
