Yankees GM Brian Cashman is expecting C Gary Sanchez to be out until late August or early September, according to the New York Post.

In the meantime, Cashman is OK with Austin Romine and Kyle Higashioka at the catcher position but will also look at the market for catchers.

Sanchez has landed on the 10-day DL due to a right groin strain, the team announced Tuesday.

In a corresponding move, the Yankees recalled Hagashioka from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

It was reported earlier Tuesday that Sanchez may have re-aggravated his groin injury following the passed ball in the first inning that led to a Rays run, according to FanCred Sports' Jon Heyman.

Sanchez has been hit hard with ridicule for his "laziness" not only on the passed ball, but more importantly, the game-ending play where he might have had the chance to beat out a grounder to tie the game in the ninth.

"I think I could have done a better job for sure there running," he told The Athletic's Marc Carig after the game.

Sanchez's batting average has dipped down to .188 after a 1-for-5 night in Tampa. After his last DL stint, he went 1-for-14.
