The lineup shuffles for the Yankees after they suffered their 6-5 loss in 12 innings to the Blue Jays late Friday night. Among the notables, RF Aaron Judge is back in the two spot after he sat out -- until a pinch-hit strikeout in the top of the 12th inning -- as a precautionary move following his collision into the right-field wall during Thursday's doubleheader with the Detroit Tigers. Cameron Maybin, who replaced Judge in Friday's starting lineup, slides back to LF in favor of Clint Frazier after an 0-for-5 night in RF. Without Gary Sanchez until -- likely -- the end of the month as he recovers from his pulled left groin Thursday, the Yankees give C Kyle Higashioka the nod behind the dish after Austin Romine spent all 12 innings as the team's backstop Friday. Didi Gregorius gets the day off, sliding SS Gleyber Torres in the middle infield and giving 2B Thairo Estrada his first start since Aug. 17 before he suffered a calf injury.

Who is starting for the Yankees?

LHP James Paxton (13-6, 3.96 ERA) looks for his ninth straight win after he recorded victory No. 8 in a row with Monday's 5-0 shutout of the Boston Red Sox. Paxton's performance against the Red Sox -- four hits and seven strikeouts to three walks -- allowed the Yankees to win the four-game series at the start of the team's 10-game road trip, which nears its completion in Toronto. Since Aug. 2, Paxton is 8-0 and sports a 2.57 ERA. In Paxton's last start against the Blue Jays, the Yankees won 8-7 at Yankee Stadium on June 26 as the southpaw recorded the no-decision result with six runs on eight hits and three strikeouts to four walks.

Who is starting for the Blue Jays?

RHP Jacob Waguespack (4-4, 4.55 ERA) is in his first year with the Blue Jays after he was called up to Toronto and debuted in May 27's 8-3 loss against the Tampa Bay Rays, pitching 4.0 innings of long relief and striking out seven while walking one with three runs (two earned) on three hits. The 6-foot-6, 235-pounder has appeared in 13 games with 10 starts. Against the Yankees in the Blue Jays' 5-4 win Aug. 10, Waguespack relieved the middle frames and allowed three runs on three hits with two strikeouts to three walks over 3.2 innings. He allowed two home runs in his lone outing vs. the Yankees. Since he faced the Yankees, his past five performances have all been starts. Waguespack's latest start for the Blue Jays came in Sunday's 8-3 loss to the Rays, going 4.1 innings and getting roughed up for six runs on seven hits with two strikeouts to two walks.

Upcoming schedule

The Yankees wrap up their weekend set with the Blue Jays when they face RHP T.J. Zeuch (0-0, 4.50 ERA) in Sunday's series finale at 1:07 p.m. at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. While a projected starter is not listed for the Yankees, manager Aaron Boone might have LHP Jordan Montgomery make his season debut as he nears activation from the 60-day injured list. Montgomery, who is 11-7 with a 3.84 ERA in 35 career games (all starts), underwent Tommy John surgery on his left elbow in June 2018. He could start, be used as an opener or enter in relief, Boone told reporters before the Yankees' game Friday against the Blue Jays.
