After the past two weeks featured mixed performances with Noah Syndergaard and Wilson Ramos as the Mets -- from general manager Brodie Van Wagenen to manager Mickey Callaway -- mulled the pitcher-catcher combination, Ramos has broken his silence.

Before the Mets' 8-1 win Friday against the Reds from Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, he sat down with Mike Puma of the New York Post and defused any further drama that could be tied to him and Syndergaard.

Poor results from Syndergaard's starts with Ramos at catcher most recently led to the Mets' decision Wednesday against the Colorado Rockies, starting Rene Rivera but still struggling despite the team's 7-4 win.

"It's not like I would be mad with my teammate or that situation," Ramos told The Post of Syndergaard, who is 10-8 with a 4.22 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 30 starts over 185.2 innings. "I'm a professional and I love my job and I love what I'm doing, but sometimes you feel good pitching to this guy or that guy. That has happened before."

The previous two results with Ramos behind the plate yielded similar production.

In search of his first win since Sept. 2 when he mowed down the Washington Nationals with one run on three hits and three strikeouts to one walk for the Mets' 10-7 victory, Syndergaard's outings Sept. 8 against the Philadelphia Phillies and last Friday vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers showed regression.

Syndergaard's pair of five-inning efforts in losses to the Phillies (10-7) and Dodgers (9-2) included nine strikeouts and three walks, but eight runs on 11 hits -- including two home runs -- sunk the chances for Mets wins.

"You know what, Noah understands that I'm going to make the lineup out," Callaway said Wednesday to SNY's Steve Gelbs. "And he's going to go out there and compete for the team. He understands that we're trying to do something special here and get to the playoffs, and that everything else is separated from that. So we're going to continue putting the best players on the field at all times, and everyone of our players in there is going to compete to the best of their ability and only worry about the team. That's all you can do and I think Noah does a great job of that."

Ramos, meanwhile, has proven to be one of the Mets' best hitters in 2019.

Highlighted by his 26-game hitting streak from Aug. 3 to Sept. 3, Ramos developed among the Mets' constants on offense, slashing .292/.356/.424 with 14 home runs and 72 RBI in 135 games.

But with the Mets' chase for the second Wild Card still alive as the three-game series over the weekend against the Reds continues Saturday at 4:10 p.m., Ramos puts the team first.

"Right now I feel happy with all those guys, they have been throwing really good, the communication is really better than the beginning of the season," Ramos said. "That made me very happy because next year I will feel closer to them, so right now we are showing everybody out there our communication is very good, so that will help us for next year be on the same page."
