The Yankees could let Didi Gregorius get more minor-league at-bats before activating him from the injured list for Friday's game in Cleveland, but they feel he's ready to go.

Gregorius, who has not played yet this season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in October, is just 3-for-25 over six games with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after going 2-for-7 with High-A Tampa.

"Because Didi has had a ton of at-bats if you go back to his extended spring training where he was able to rack up live at-bats," Aaron Boone said, per NJ.com. "Now obviously between playing A-ball and Triple-A, he's essentially had a spring training and then some of at-bats.

"For a really good established player in the prime of their career, you really don't get that caught up in results in a minor-league setting. So it's more about do we feel he's built up and do we feel like he's seen enough. Where do we feel that he's at? And we feel good about that."

Aaron Hicks went 3-for-18 in five rehab games before returning from a back injury and proceeded to go 7-for-39 over his first 10 MLB games.

In his latest rehab game with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Gregorius did go 2-for-4. Boone is paying no mind to Gregorius' minor-league numbers.

"Save those hits for here," Boone said, per the Bergen Record.

Upon returning to the majors, Gregorius will be eased back by playing two out of three or three out of four games, which will also allow Boone to keep his other infield options involved.

Gleyber Torres will slide back to second base, and now Boone will have to get a little more creative to get at-bats for DJ LeMahieu, who's hitting .315 with 38 RBI. Gio Urshela has also earned at-bats, hitting .325 while playing well at third base.
