With Alexandar Georgiev being placed in COVID-19 protocols, the Rangers have called up Keith Kinkaid to back up Igor Shesterkin.

Georgiev, along with defenseman Ryan Lindgren and Jarred Tinordi were placed in protocols on Sunday, when all NHL teams returned to practice after entering the holiday break a day early due to the latest COVID-19 outbreak. Patrik Nemeth was initially placed in protocols on Sunday, but was cleared on Monday and is back with the team.

In his one appearance this year, Kinkaid stopped 29 of 31 shots in a 3-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes on Dec. 15. Since joining the Rangers last season, Kinkaid has stopped 90.3 percent of shots and has allowed 2.53 goals per game en route to an 8-4-2 record.

Georgiev is 5-3-2 with a .902 save percentage and 2.87 GAA this season.

The Rangers will resume their schedule on Wednesday in Florida against the Panthers.
