Former Yankees reliever Andrew Miller appears to be on his way to St. Louis, according to multiple reports.
The 33-year-old lefty is "very close" to signing with the Cardinals, per MLB.com's Mark Feinsand, which would eliminate another potential offseason target for Yankees GM Brian Cashman.
While the Yankees have solidified their 2019 rotation after trading for James Paxton and retaining J.A. Happ, the bullpen has yet to be addressed. Last week, the team met with representatives for free agent reliever Adam Ottavino, who is reportedly high on Cashman's wish list.
David Robertson and Zach Britton are also free agents who came out of the Yankee pen this past season. Robertson has drawn interest from multiple teams and has been linked to the Red Sox, whose closer, Craig Kimbrel, is also a free agent.
As of last week the Yankees were reportedly still in play for the lefty Britton, whom Cashman acquired from the Orioles before the 2018 trade deadline.
Miller had a down year for the Indians last season while dealing with injuries. The two-time All-Star, who pitched for the Yankees from 2015-16 before being traded to Cleveland mid-season, has drawn interest from the Phillies, Red Sox and Mets, among other teams, per SNY's Andy Martino.
