The Mets could be in danger of losing their hitting coach to a division rival.

With Chili Davis' contract up and the Mets not having yet reached an agreement to bring him back, Davis is among the names drawing interest from the Phillies for their vacant hitting coach gig, reports Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer

According to Breen, the Phillies are expected to make a decision soon.

The Mets have been hoping to retain Davis, Mike Puma of the New York Post has reported.

Davis, 59, became the Mets' hitting coach last December -- replacing Pat Roessler -- after serving as the Cubs' hitting coach in 2018. He worked in the same capacity for the Red Sox from 2015-2017 and the Athletics from 2012-2014.
