The Mets have agreed to a deal with Taijuan Walker, reports SNY's Andy Martino.

Martino first reported Wednesday afternoon that the Mets had "serious interest" in adding the right-hander.

The deal is for two years and contains a player option for 2023, reports Joel Sherman of The New York Post.

Per Sherman, Walker will get $10 million in 2021 and $7 million in 2022. The player option for 2023 has a base salary of $6 million and can reach as high as $8.5 million if incentives are reached. The Mets have a $3 million buyout on the player option.

Walker, 28, had a 2.70 ERA and 1.16 WHIP while striking out 50 batters in 53.1 innings (11 starts) last season for the Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays.

With Walker on board, the Mets -- who also had some interest in free agent right-hander Jake Odorizzi before agreeing to a deal with Walker -- appear to be largely set in the starting rotation.

Jacob deGrom, Carlos Carrasco, Marcus Stroman, and Walker will almost certainly occupy the first four spots in the rotation, with David Peterson and Joey Lucchesi the likely options for the No. 5 spot.

For his career, Walker has posted a 3.84 ERA and 1.24 WHIP while striking out 528 batters in 581.2 innings pitched with the Blue Jays, Mariners, and Arizona Diamondbacks.

He has been limited to just 67.1 innings over the last three seasons due to Tommy John surgery and the ensuing recovery.

Three starts into 2018, Walker underwent Tommy John surgery, missing the remainder of the 2018 season and making just one start in 2019 before being non-tendered by the Diamondbacks.
