The Nets have reportedly made the expected move of extending D'Angelo Russell a qualifying offer, making him a restricted free agent.
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported on Friday that the Nets have extended the offer to Russell, meaning that they'll have the right to match any offers the point guard receives.
The Nets could choose to eventually renounce the offer, should they land coveted six-time All-Star Kyrie Irving.
In recent days, the Lakers have shown interest in reunited with Russell, whom they drafted second overall in 2015. That could change though, if the Lakers swoop in and land Irving instead.
