The NBA announced on Wednesday evening that the league is suspending its season due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the virus just before Wednesday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The league released a statement saying that a Utah Jazz player has tested positive for COVID-19, and though Gobert was not specifically named, he was scratched from the lineup beforehand, and Shams Charania of The Athletic has reported Gobert did indeed test positive.

In a released statement, the NBA said the league will "use this hiatus to determine next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic."

The statement also said that the affected player was not in the arena for the game.

The Knicks and Hawks were in the middle of the fourth quarter of their game in Atlanta when the announcement was made. The Nets, meanwhile, were set to play the Warriors without fans in attendance on Thursday before the season was suspended.

According to reports from Oklahoma City, Jazz and Thunder players are being quarantined in their locker rooms to be tested for the virus.

As SNY's Ian Begley notes, the Jazz played against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on March 4, and the Jazz played Detroit on March 7, a day before the Pistons played the Knicks at MSG.

Per ESPN, all players from teams who have played the Jazz in the last 10 days, including the Knicks, have been told to self-quarantine.
