5 things to know from Wednesday's game...
1) The Braves jumped on Matz right out of the gates. In the first inning, Dansby Swanson roped a single to center, followed by a two-run shot from Freddie Freeman. The Mets had given Matz an early 1-0 lead, but the lefty couldn't shut down the Braves in the bottom half of the first. He rebounded to keep the Braves quiet for the next four innings, but a Josh Donaldson two-run home run broke a tie and gave the Braves the lead for good in the sixth inning. Matz was tagged with five earned runs in 5+ innings.
2) Jeff McNeil did it all for the Mets in the first inning. After leading off the games with a double down the first-base line, McNeil then stole third. He'd eventually come around to score on an RBI groundout by Michael Conforto. McNeil's early hustle put the Mets on the board first.
3) The Mets tied the game at 2-2 with a pair of two-out doubles in the fourth inning. With Wilson Ramos on second, Amed Rosario lined a ball to center field that was misjudged by Ronald Acuña Jr. Rosario was thrown out trying to stretch the play into a triple, but Ramos scored in time to tie the game.
4) With the game still tied at 2-2 in the top of the sixth inning, the Mets built a rally as J.D. Davis and Todd Frazier singled. Ramos then looped a single to right, but Davis was thrown out by a considerable margin at home plate. Rosario then struck out swinging to end the frame.
5) Chris Flexen gave the Mets two strong innings of relief, striking out three without allowing a hit.

The Mets head to Chicago for a four-game set with the Cubs, starting on Thursday night at 8:05 p.m. RHP Walker Lockett will make his Mets debut, while Tyler Chatwood (3-1, 3.60 ERA) goes for the Cubs.
