Mets pitcher Steven Matz sent a heartfelt message to Glen Ridge, N.J. police officer Charles "Rob" Roberts, who is in critical condition while battling coronavirus.

"Hey, Officer Rob, this is Steven Matz of the New York Mets," Matz said in a message shared to Facebook. "I just want to reach out and let you know that we're thinking about you and also your family and all the Glen Ridge department during this time. We pray that you get well soon. At some point down the road, we'd like to welcome you guys to Citi Field. God bless."

Roberts was saved by his fellow officers and paramedics at home after his heart stopped on Tuesday morning, according to NJ.com.

Matz, a Long Island native, has been using his platform and his Tru32 foundation to help during the coronavirus pandemic, donating to Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, the NYPD, and FDNY.

"Honestly. ... if I'm being completely honest, and it might sound cliche … but it all comes from my faith. I'm a Christian. I read the Bible. I read what it says, and it says to love others and help others. That's our calling," Matz told SNY's Andy Martino earlier this month.

"This is why we started [Tru32] in the first place," Matz said. "In unfortunate times, when tragedy strikes in the New York community, we can use our little platform to help. I've heard over and over again how that specific area [in Elmhurst] had been crushed, and it's right in our backyard where we play."
