Mets prospect Mark Vientos has had a strong season with Triple-A Syracuse, and earned International League Player of the Week honors after continuing to dominate at the plate.
The 22-year-old slashed .448/.467/.828 with a 1.295 OPS, three home runs, and 10 RBI over six games last week on the road against the Charlotte Knights. He went 3-for-5 on Aug. 18 with a homer and three RBI and then followed that up with a 4-for-5 performance on Aug. 21, including a double.
Over 87 games with Syracuse this season, Vientos is slashing .289/.363/.545 with a .908 OPS. He's crushed 22 homers (tied for the team-high with 1B Daniel Palka), and has recorded 15 doubles and 66 RBI to go along with 36 walks and 106 strikeouts.
Vientos was selected by the Mets in the second round of the 2017 MLB Draft out of high school. He is currently ranked by SNY as the Mets' No. 5 overall prospect, just behind Francisco Alvarez, recently called-up Brett Baty, Kevin Parada, and Alex Ramirez.
