Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils co-owner Michael Rubin has begun a new initiative called the "All In Challenge," using his Fanatics website to raise money for coronavirus relief.
Whether it's celebrity one-on-one dinners, playing a round of golf in your hometown with Peyton Manning, or the grand prize of witnessing all of sports' most important games like the Super Bowl, World Series, and NBA Finals all in one year, fans can donate money to enter to win whatever events they so choose. And in the end, the money goes 100 percent towards the causes Rubin is raising these charitable donations for to help those affected by coronavirus.
While there are simple $10 donations to win a chance at one of these prizes, there are also events that are being auctioned off to the highest bidder. One of them involves the Mets.
Darryl Strawberry is stepping up to the challenge, and here's what the website says he has to offer one lucky fan:
"Darryl will be gifting one lucky winner a 1986 World Series jersey signed by the legendary New York Mets team. Darryl is also including four tickets for you and some friends to join him at Citi Field in a luxury suite at a Mets game. That's not all! Fuel the Subway Rivalry as you also take your group to a Yankees game alongside Strawberry."
That 1986 World Series jersey signed by the entire team is one rare article of clothing. And an experience with Strawberry at not just one, but two games would be double the time to pick his brain about the game.
In the introductory video, Strawberry noted wanting to give back because of the charitable work that Rubin's cause is doing that hit close to home. He talked about how his mother used to work really hard to keep food on the table when he was growing up in Los Angeles, so he knows the feeling those might be having right now as they struggle to do the same under these tough times.
The current bid is set at $1,550 to win this experience with Strawberry, and the donations will be toward Feeding America, Meals on Wheels, World Central Kitchen and No Kid Hungry.
