The Yankees have their Opening Day starter.

Masahiro Tanaka will get the call to take the mound on March 27 when the Yankees open the season against the Baltimore Orioles, manager Aaron Boone announced on Saturday.

It will be the fourth career Opening Day start for the 30-year-old.

Boone tabbed Tanaka after Yankees ace Luis Severino was shut down for two weeks due to shoulder inflammation.

"Masa has clearly shown throughout his life, really, that he's really good in the big spot," Boone told reporters on Friday. "Certainly an Opening Day situation, he wouldn't flinch at it. He'd be prepared."

Following Tanaka will be new Yankee addition James Paxton then fellow southpaw J.A. Happ.

After that, it is uncertain.

CC Sabathia will start the season on the Injured List while Severino could also potentially join him if he is not ready.

Tanaka has not fared well on Opening Day in his last three outings.

The righthander is 0-2, allowing four runs in four innings in 2015, two runs in 5.2 innings in 2016 and seven runs in just 2.2 innings in 2017.

He is, however, coming off a respectable season in which he finished 12-6 with a 3.75 ERA (4.01 FIP) and 159 strikeouts in 156 innings pitched.
