The Knicks announced on Friday afternoon that they have reopened their training facility in Westchester county for voluntary player workouts.

"As the safety of our players and staff remains our priority, we will continue to follow the guidelines established by the State of New York and the NBA," the Knicks said in a brief statement.

The Knicks join the Nets in reopening their training facilities, as the Nets did so on Tuesday.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced this past Sunday that all professional sports teams in the state are now allowed to open their facilities to begin training for the return of their seasons.

This news comes as the NBA continues to work on plans for resuming action, with the focus on using Orlando's Walt Disney World as a bubble environment where all teams can stay isolated while continuing to play the remainder of the 2019-20 season.

The first phase of any NBA restart would involve teams returning to their own facilities and holding some form of camp, before heading to Orlando to being scrimmages.

The NBA now has a target date of July 31 for resuming games, and now that the Knicks and Nets, both of whom obviously call the U.S. city hit hardest by coronavirus home, things appear to be progressing toward the league being able to hit that target date.
