Jamal Adams told Bleacher Report during the offseason that the 2017 Jets lacked energy in the locker room and seemed as if "everybody wanted to do the bare minimum."

Now halfway into the 2018 season, the safety says it's same old, same old.

"Honestly, I can sit here and sugarcoat everything, but things have not changed," Adams said Tuesday on WFAN's "Carlin, Maggie and Bart" show. "Obviously we're still losing and I'm not saying that we have guys like that in the locker room. But at the same time it's not changing, it hasn't changed and we've been losing. At the end of the day we're going to get it fixed, and the sun will shine."

Adams declined to say if he believes the Jets quit during Sunday's 41-10 embarrassing loss to the Bills, which dropped his team to 3-7 on the season. He said "there were definitely some words shared" between himself and teammates at halftime, but did not specify who those players were nor who has contributed to the continuing losing culture.

When asked if quitting is on the horizon for the squad after the bye week, Adams said it's out of his hands.

"I was asked a question after the game if guys are going to quit," he said. "That's something that I cannot control. Obviously as a leader on the team I can do my best to change people's mindset and how they go about their business, but at the end of the day everybody's a grown man. Just know one thing: as long as I'm on this team I will not let that happen and I damn sure won't quit."

As for Adams' bye-week plans?

"I got to get out of here, Bart, I'm not going to lie to you," he told Bart Scott. "A lot of frustration, a lot of emotion. I got to be around family, man. I got to get down south and clear my mind. I'm not going to sit here and say I'm happy, obviously no one is in the building."

Adams also reiterated his defense of hot-seated head coach Todd Bowles.

"T-Bowles is not the problem," he said. "Other than that, it is what it is."

The 23-year-old said last week he wants to be a Jet for life. A culture change would go a long way in helping to make that a reality.
