All 32 NFL teams received notification Tuesday of free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick's private workout Saturday in Atlanta, and both franchises from New York are set to be on hand.
The Jets and Giants will each have a representative in attendance for Kaepernick's session, which the league helped set up, an NFL source told SNY's Ralph Vacchiano on Wednesday.
The two teams have their respective franchise signal in Jets second-year pro Sam Darnold and Giants rookie starter Daniel Jones, and they have at least one backup between the Jets' Luke Falk and the Giants' Eli Manning.
Kaepernick's workout is slated to conduct an interview session after the on-field work, as ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported on Tuesday.
Kaepernick's workout comes after several teams recently inquired about the former San Franciso 49ers quarterback's readiness.
Away from the league since the end of the 2016 season, when he started his protest against police brutality and racial injustice with pregame kneeling during the national anthem, Kaepernick's representatives orchestrated the workout after an Oct. 10 statement said they reached out to all 32 NFL teams about Kaepernick's services and received "little to no response," according to ESPN's Dan Graziano.
"Earlier this year, we discussed some possible steps with his representatives and they recently emphasized his level of preparation and that he is ready to work out for clubs and be interviewed by them," the league said in the memo to all 32 teams, according to a copy obtained by ESPN. "We have therefore arranged this opportunity for him to work out, and for all clubs to have the opportunity to evaluate his current readiness and level of interest in resuming his NFL career."
Kaepernick took to Twitter on Tuesday and said that he and his representatives received word from the NFL league office about Saturday's workout in Atlanta.
Kaepernick added that he has been in shape and ready for the opportunity since his 2016 season.
In 69 games (58 starts) over six seasons from 2011-16, Kaepernick went 28-30 overall and completed 59.8 percent of his passes for 12,271 yards and 72 touchdowns to 30 interceptions. He added 375 rushes for 2,300 yards (6.1 per carry) and 13 touchdowns.
