Zak DeOssie was not at Giants practice Friday because he reportedly got his knee examined.

The result appears to have revealed the worst-case scenario for the veteran long snapper.

DeOssie suffered a torn meniscus and is set to be placed Saturday on season-ending Injured Reserve, according to Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post.

DeOssie did not practice Thursday, when he landed on the injury report with what the Giants (2-9) labeled as knee and wrist issues.

His status was subsequently ruled to "out" Friday for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers (8-3) at 1 p.m. from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

However, second-year head coach Pat Shurmur addressed the injury report Friday and said that DeOssie's season-ending IR status was not yet finalized.

With his 2019 season confirmed by Dunleavy to be over, as Mike Garafolo first reported Thursday, the Giants will activate third-year long snapper Colin Holba off the practice squad.

Holba's NFL career started in 2017 with the Jacksonville Jaguars for seven games before he logged six games in 2018-19 with the San Francisco 49ers.

Holba, 25, was an undrafted free agent out of Louisville. He handled all of the Cardinals' long-snapping duties starting in 2015, his junior season.

DeOssie, 35, is set to hit free agency after he signed his one-year deal worth $1.2 million for the 2019 season.

He has spent all 13 of his NFL seasons with the Giants, who selected him at No. 116 overall in the 2007 draft's fourth round.

Along with 16th-year quarterback Eli Manning, whose time could also be up after he sees his contract expire after the season, DeOssie is a longtime captain.

Manning and DeOssie are the Giants' last players from the past two Super Bowl teams -- XLII (Feb. 3, 2008) and XLVI (Feb. 5, 2012) -- that beat the New England Patriots.
