The Giants did not activate running back Jonathan Stewart off injured reserve on Thursday, the final day he had before his season would officially be over.

Stewart, who suffered a foot injury in late September, practiced on Nov. 15, which permitted him three weeks before his designation to return/return to practice was up. He is almost certain to be cut in the offseason

The 31-year-old Stewart, who totaled six carries for 17 yards in three regular-season games this season, wasn't at Thursday's practice.

The veteran Stewart signed a two-year deal with New York in the offseason so he could help mentor rookie Saquon Barkley, who has totaled 12 touchdowns and 1,556 yards from scrimmage in 13 games this season.

The Giants also officially placed safety Landon Collins on injured reserve with a partially torn labrum.
