With the Giants on the verge of yet another losing season and the NFL trade deadline just a few days away, Janoris Jenkins' name has been bandied about as a possible chip on the table.

Sources told SNY's Ralph Vacchiano earlier this week that, while Jenkins may be considered overpriced, ""He's still good. And in this pass-happy league, everyone needs cornerbacks."

General manager Dave Gettleman was active at last year's trade deadline, dealing cornerback Eli Apple to the Saints and defensive lineman Snacks Harrison to the Lions. Now, it's Jenkins who might be the most likely to be on his way out with the team struggling once again.

For his part, Jenkins sounds as if he's ready for a resolution, one way or another.

"It don't matter where I want to be. Business is business," Jenkins said on Friday. "I just want to play football. It don't even matter. I can't control business decisions. My whole thing is to play football."

Jenkins is tied for second in the NFL with three interceptions this season, two of which came in a Week 4 win over the Redskins. He's also added 29 solo tackles, third on the team.

The 30-year-old has one more year on his contract, but the money is not guaranteed, meaning he could be cut following this season and his new team would not be on the hook for any further salary cap ramificiations. As Vacchiano reported, with DeAndre Baker and Sam Beal waiting in the wings, it certainly makes sense for Big Blue to shop around and see what they might be able to get for the former Pro Bowler.

"At the end of the day, let me go be who I be," Jenkins said. "Ain't no pressure. Ain't no arguments. If you are going to let me go, let me go. Don't beat around the bush."

Jenkins arrived in East Rutherford in 2016, when he signed a five-year, $62.5 million deal with the Giants following four season with th Rams. With Tuesday's trade deadline approaching fast, it won't be much longer before Jenkins finds out if he'll be finishing out that contract at a new destination.
