The Giants are giving WR Corey Coleman another shot, signing him to a one-year year deal, SNY's Ralph Vacchiano confirmed on Monday.

Coleman was slated to be a solid depth receiver for the Giants last season, but he tore his ACL before it began. He made a good impression in the return game with Big Blue in 2018, where he also had five receptions for 71 yards in his eight games played.

The 25-year-old is a former first-round pick by the Browns back in 2016, but he has yet to live up to that status. He's had trouble with drops and learning his assignments, but New York liked what they saw two seasons ago enough to bring him back under new head coach Joe Judge.

Coleman has blazing speed and a 40-inch vertical. Of course, his injury might hold him back a little bit from what he was in the past. But it's worth taking a shot on a guy that Judge, in particular, can appreciate with his special teams prowess. Coleman averaged 26 yards per kick return in 23 attempts in 2018, with his longest at 51 yards.

Coleman also adds some much-needed wide receiver depth to the Giants. Sterling Shepard, Golden Tate and emerging star Darius Slayton made up the top three. But after that, Cody Core was their next-best wideout, and he's more of a special teamer than anything.

The Giants aren't banking on the Baylor product to be their next-man up if one receiver were to get hurt, but Coleman will get a shot to prove during training camp that he can be just that.
