The Giants drama apparently isn't going away during the team's bye week.

Big Blue's backup QB Kyle Lauletta was arrested in Weehawken, N.J., on Tuesday morning while he was driving to the practice facility in East Rutherford, according to a Weehawken police press release.

The release stated that Lauletta was trying to make a right turn from the wrong lane and ignored an officer's request to keep going straight. While making the turn, Lauletta nearly hit the officer who was directing traffic.

Giants head coach Pat Shurmur said Lauletta, who missed Tuesday's practice, eventually appeared at the Giants facility, but added the quarterback will face consequences for his actions.

"We're trying to get to the bottom of it and learn some more details of what happened, but obviously it's disturbing," Shurmur said in an interview with WFAN. "There's obviously things were gonna do internally and sure, there's consequences for this type of behavior."

Shurmur said he's spoken with Lauletta since the arrest. The coach also didn't rule out a suspension for the team's 2018 fourth-round pick.

"We'll see," said Shurmur. "We're still gathering information on this. This is not something that's going to be taken lightly."

"This morning at approximately 8:00 am Weehawken police arrested Mr. Kyle Lauletta for various motor vehicle and related disorderly persons offenses. Mr. Lauletta was observed by officers operating his 2017 Jaguar in a dangerous manner in heavy traffic near the Pleasant Avenue approach to Route 495. Upon being directed by an officer to continue in his marked lane, Mr. Lauletta attempted to evade him, making an illegal turn and continuing towards Route 495, almost striking the officer. Mr. Lauletta was subsequently stopped by another officer and refused various instructions to produce his driving credentials and exit his vehicle. He was then arrested and charged with eluding police, a third degree crime, obstructing administration of law, and resisting arrest, which are disorderly persons offenses. Motor vehicle charges are for reckless driving, disregarding an officer's directions, improper turn in marked traffic lane, and failure to remain in a marked lane. Upon further investigation, it was learned that a 2017 Jaguar registered to Mr. Lauletta was involved in a similar incident at the same location yesterday, for which summonses were issued by mail due to the vehicle not having stopped at the scene.

"The arrest location is the only direct access to westbound Route 495, due to the ongoing Restore 495 highway project. This has caused severe traffic congestion at this intersection during the morning and evening hours. Traffic officers are stationed daily at all the approach roads in order to mitigate congestion and maintain open intersections to allow emergency vehicles to get through, but commuting time is much longer than normal."

Shurmur didn't say whether Lauletta's arrest would affect his chances of playing this season, which many Giants fans have called for as Eli Manning continues to struggle.

But the coach hinted that the rookie didn't do himself any favors on Tuesday.

"There's elements in the building of 'OK, what does the future look like?' We think of those things," Shurmur said.
