The New York Post announced late Sunday night that their beloved sports photographer Anthony Causi died at 48 due to coronavirus.

Former Yankee Didi Gregorius, who loves photography himself, paid his respects over Twitter to the Causi family.

"My condolences goes to The Causi Family," Gregorius wrote. "Anthony was a great, funny and awesome guy to talk to and learn from about sports photography ... may he Rest In Peace."

Causi joined the Post in 1994, where he worked his way up the ranks to eventually become a full-time sports photographer, in which he would capture some of the most recent iconic moments in New York sports. His most famous was Mariano Rivera leaving the bullpen at Yankee Stadium to a roaring crowd toward the end of his career.

"Anthony Causi was our colleague, our friend and a brilliant journalist," said Stephen Lynch, editor in chief of The Post. "He was, quite simply, one of the best sports photographers in New York City, capturing all the major moments of the past 25 years. Soft-spoken, funny, but most of all kind - he was respected by those he photographed and admired by those with whom he worked."
