DJ LeMahieu, despite being perfectly healthy after his battle with coronavirus, won’t be in the lineup on Opening Day. Tyler Wade will take his place at second base instead. The Yankees have looked solid throughout summer camp, especially in the case of Aaron Judge. He was belting homers left and right during exhibition games recently, showing that his neck stiffness isn’t a problem whatsoever.

Who is starting for the Yankees?

RHP Gerrit Cole is finally making his Yankees debut on Opening Day. He has pitched very well during summer camp, with his final appearance against his teammates showing nine strikeouts on the stat sheet over five innings. He’s ready to go.

Who is starting for the Nationals?

RHP Max Scherzer, who once again pitches the first game of the season for Washington. He didn’t have a good time on the mound against the Phillies last time out, but that was only an exhibition game. He will be sure to bring his A-game against this Yanks lineup.

Upcoming schedule

The Yankees get a day off on Friday before taking on the Nationals again on Saturday. It will be James Paxton going up against Stephen Strasburg.
