Bobcats will face Sacred Heart on Sunday

The Quinnipiac Bobcats defeated the UConn Huskies 3-2 on Saturday to advance to Sunday's Connecticut Ice final.

Five things to know from Saturday's game

1) The first period featured a flurry of goals. The Huskies struck first as Ruslan Iskhakov notched his seventh goal of the year. But just 18 seconds later, Karlis Cukste put the Bobcats on the board for the first time to tie things up 1-1.

 

2) About five minutes later, Wyatt Bongiovanni lit the lamp to put Quinnipiac in the lead. For Bongiovanni, the goal was his 12th of the season. But with the Bobcats looking to maintain their lead into the first intermission, the Huskies found the back of the net for the second time, as Carter Turnbull scored his eighth goal of the season. The first period ended in a 2-2 tie.

3) As the two teams traded blows in the second period, Quinnipiac's Nick Jermain scored the only goal of the period. Jermain's eighth goal of the season gave the Bobcats a 3-2 lead.

4) The scored stay 3-2 for the entire third period, but UConn had one late flurry in the final minute of action. Bobcats goalie Keith Petruzzelli stood tall, keeping the puck out of the net and maintaining the lead. Petruzzelli finished the game with 26 saves on 28 shots.

5) Quinnipiac's William Fallstrom took home first star of the game, as he was the only player for the Bobcats to record multiple points, notching two assists and also winning 7-of-14 faceoffs.
