As the Yankees begin the third and last series of their nine-game road trip Monday night against the Mariners, they do so with another key piece unavailable.

Before the Yankees' 10:10 p.m. game at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, manager Aaron Boone told reporters that OF Cameron Maybin would miss his second straight game as he battles left wrist soreness.

According to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, Boone described Maybin's injury as "something that comes and goes with him," a day-to-day ailment keeping the 32-year-old veteran out while the Yankees start LF Mike Tauchman, CF Brett Gardner and RF Aaron Judge once again.

A contributor off the bench and in the starting lineup since the Yankees claimed him off waivers from the Cleveland Indians at the end of April, Maybin is slashing .297/.375/.500 with eight home runs and 26 RBI across 63 games on the season.

After he started the first two games of the Yankees' three-game series against the Athletics in Oakland last Tuesday through Thursday, Maybin remained among New York's starters into the following set with the Dodgers.

Maybin started the opener Friday night -- the Yankees' 10-2 win -- in Los Angeles with a 1-for-5 performance as New York's left fielder.

He came off the bench the following game Saturday afternoon -- the Dodgers' 2-1 edge -- with his pinch-hit appearance in the top of the eighth inning, striking out.

Maybin then missed the finale Sunday night -- the Yankees' 5-1 victory to leave Los Angeles with the series in hand -- before Boone's update Monday night.
