Brandon Jacobs attended Sunday's game between the Giants and the Packers and came away greatly disappointed in his former team after he watched New York's 31-13 loss to Green Bay.

The former Giants running back, who played for the franchise from 2005-11 and 2013 with Super Bowls won on the 2007 (10-6) and 2011 (9-7) teams, told Bob Glauber of Newsday that the current locker room has more talent than either of his championship squads.

"If you ask me, talent-wise in this locker room, they're better than we were," Jacobs said. "Player for player, they have more talent. You have to understand, when we won Super Bowls, we didn't have these amazing seasons."

Jacobs nows lives in Atlanta but made the trip up to East Rutherford, New Jersey, for the day at MetLife Stadium but left with another Giants loss -- the eighth straight -- as the result.

While the Giants are still breaking in rookie quarterback Daniel Jones, Jacobs pointed to running back Saquon Barkley and across the underperforming offense, describing the current roster as "bigger" and "more athletic" than either Super Bowl team was.

But he added that the Giants in each of his title-winning seasons had "heart" and "leaders," which does not necessarily fall on second-year head coach Pat Shurmur, who has caught criticism from fans and media throughout the fall.

"Everybody wants to point the thing at the coach, but I don't think you can do that," Jacobs said. "You can't tell me the guys aren't coming to work trying every day. Everybody says the team's young. This isn't college, bro. This is the NFL. Are we supposed to be terrible until everybody gets to six, seven years (in the NFL)? We always told the rookies, 'Week 2, Week 3, it's over. Ain't no more rookies.'"

As the Giants' No. 110 overall pick in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL draft, Jacobs earned his keep on the roster, grinding from Coffeyville (Kansas) Community College to Auburn and Southern Illinois.

He logged 16 games as a rookie in 2005 and followed with consecutive 1,000-yard seasons from 2007-08, racking up 5,087 yards and 60 touchdowns over his eight-year Giants tenure.

Jacobs spent one season with the San Francisco 49ers in 2012 before he reunited with the Giants for his final 2013 campaign, taking 58 carries for 238 yards (4.1 average) and four touchdowns at age 31.

"I would move back up here in a heartbeat if I knew I had an opportunity to help this team," Jacobs said. "In a heartbeat."
