It's been quite the intriguing start to the season for the Jets, and not in the way they had hoped before the year started.

After three weeks of play in the books, New York enters Week 4 at 0-3, their worst start to a season since 2003.

Coming off Sunday's loss to the Patriots, Adam Gase discussed with ESPN Radio's The Michael Kay Show on Tuesday afternoon what's been going wrong for the Jets and some updates on their game plan moving forward through the rest of the season.

Gase thought his team played well on the defensive side of the ball and on special teams--both delivered a touchdown each in the game--but was extremely tough on his offense.

"We were horrible on offense," Gase said. "The disappointing part was we just never got anything ever going on offense and then it just got worse as the game went on. We got real sloppy, we went away from all the things we talked about, that's where we have to be a lot better there on offense, because when we get into the fourth quarter of a game and its close, we have to be able to stay the same as we were the first three quarters and you can't go all over the place."

Looking at the box score after the game or actually watching the game, the Jets' offense struggled to really make anything happen.

Luke Falk was unable to get much going throwing the ball, missing open receivers on routes and throwing an interception. The issues were compounded with Leveon Bell carrying the ball 18 times for just 35 yards.

Gase praised the Patriots' defense for making things difficult for his group to move forward down the field, something that surely comes with being the reigning Super Bowl LIII champions.

"The way that we were looking at this last game, we kind of knew how we needed to play it," Gase said. "We just fell behind the sticks, which is the No. 1 rule against New England. ... If you're in a bad position on second down, they're going to make it worse for you on third down."

Despite the clear issues this group has been having, maybe due to the fact that they haven't been together for long -- Ryan Kalil was a late addition in the offseason -- Gase likes the group of guys New York has.

"I like the group that we've been working with. For me it's when I see this group, it's deeper than probably I've had in a long time. We legitimately have eight guys that can play in the starting lineup and that helps us a lot...Whoever the right five guys are, that's what we need to go with.

With Sam Darnold looking to return to the Jets for Week 5's matchup with the Eagles and the weekend seemingly coming at just the right time, Gase is looking to reboot his team and get a fresh start, taking how the team performs in practice and producing the same results on the field during gameday.
