Yankees manager Aaron Boone is back to give the latest updates on his players who are continuing to work hard to get fully healthy before the season starts.
Last time, everyone was still trending in the right direction, and that is the same news that Boone dropped on SiriusXM MLB Network Radio on Tuesday.
In Aaron Judge's case, he continues to work on his rib injury, and Boone gave an update regarding his next test to see how his healing process is going.
"He's due for another CT scan I believe in a couple more weeks," Boone said. "So this time down has allowed that rib, that bone to continue to heal and all signs are encouraging there."
Even closer to returning fully healthy is James Paxton, who is still on that mid-May return timetable. Boone says a sim game was thrown recently for "Big Maple," and there continues to be no setbacks.
"James Paxton, who's going to be probably ready in about mid-May, is on that timeline," Boone said. "He's already thrown five or six bullpens. I think he actually threw a sim game yesterday to a couple guys where he is, so his rehab has gone really really well."
Aaron Hicks is also on track to return from Tommy John surgery, as Boone said he's "already doing soft toss from both sides of the plate and throwing out to 90-plus feet."
He was expected to come back around the All-Star break, but now he might be good to go by the time the season starts.
And finally, Giancarlo Stanton is still working down in Tampa, and Boone confirmed again that he will be ready to go if/when the season returns.
The extra time to prepare for the season has allowed these injured Yankees, and other injured players around the league, to get ready.
"Everyone kind of mentions that silver lining with us, and I think that's very much true," Boone said regarding his injured players coming back in time for the start of the season.
So, as the season remains on hold with MLB trying to find a way to salvage it, Boone's Yankees will continue to get stronger with key cogs finding their way back into the mix.
