While the Jets hope their opportunity at playing in a Super Bowl is just around the corner, it won't be Super Bowl LIV.

That game will be played between the 49ers and Chiefs after those two teams won the NFC and AFC Championship Games, respectively, on Sunday.

When those two teams get after it in just about two weeks time, four players with connections to the Jets will feature on the two rosters.

Of those four, three are connected to the Chiefs, however, only one will likely have a chance to make an impact for the AFC's winner.

That potential impact-maker is defensive lineman Mike Pennel. He had four tackles in the AFC Championship starting in place of injured Pro Bowl nose tackle Chris Jones (calf). Former Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan declined the option on Pennel's contact last offseason.

The other two are prominent names in Jets history, but their involvement with the Chiefs as of late is minimal. Cornerback Morris Claiborne was the Jets' former No. 1 cornerback but dealt with injuries throughout his time with Gang Green. The Jets didn't bring him back in 2019 after he violated the NFL's substance-abuse policy.

The third is linebacker Darron Lee. Before the Jets hired Joe Douglas as general manager, Adam Gase shipped the Jets' first-round pick from 2016 to the Chiefs for a sixth-round pick in 2020.

Both Claiborne and Lee have been inactive during the Chiefs' playoff run.

49ers running back Raheem Mostert shocked the football world with 29 carries for 220 yards and four touchdowns in the NFC Championship game on Sunday. Back in 2016, he had a six-day stint on the team's practice squad in September, but did not suit up for a game.
