Mets ace Jacob deGrom spoke Wednesday at spring training, meeting the media for the first time since arriving in Port St. Lucie.

One of the things on deGrom's mind -- which he also touched on in late-January during the Mets' Fan Fest at Citi Field -- is winning a third-straight Cy Young award.

"Any time you're at your best personally, you're gonna help the team," deGrom said. "You set personal goals. I've said that the last couple of years. That (winning another Cy Young) is definitely another personal goal of mine, but (this is) most importantly a team game -- want to win a World Series. But any time you're at your best, you help the team."

DeGrom also talked about advice he got from former Met and Hall-of-Famer Pedro Martinez, whose words calmed the Mets ace during the middle of the 2019 season.
