The Mets were officially eliminated from playoff contention on Monday after the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Atlanta Braves.
The Cardinals' 11-6 win put the Mets 12 1/2 games back for the second spot in the wild card with 12 games to play.
New York was already eliminated from the NL East race; despite beating the Phillies 9-4, the Mets are 13 games back with 12 games left.
The Mets officially miss the playoffs for the second straight season after reaching the World Series in 2015 and making the wild card in 2016.
