Knicks owner James Dolan, who recently tested positive for coronavirus, is no longer required to participate in what was to be a telephone mediation with Charles Oakley, according to court documents.
Instead, the mediation will go forward on Tuesday with counsel only.
Recently, Knicks legend Patrick Ewing weighed in on the bad blood between Dolan and Oakley, which has existed for more than three years.
"Whatever is going on with him and Mr. Dolan, like I've said before, it's something that needs to stop," Ewing told ESPN Radio on The Bart and Hahn Show. "He's one of the best players that I've played with. He's a part of the Knicks' history. He and Mr. Dolan need to get in a room somewhere and figure that out."
This civil suit involving Oakley and Dolan began because Oakley was dragged out of Madison Square Garden by security at the order of Dolan back in 2017. That led to Oakley getting banned from The Garden -- the place he called home for most of his playing days. Here are more details on the suit and incident.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver and Michael Jordan tried to play middle men and help the situation back when it initially happened. That obviously did not work.
Recently, in response to the Spike Lee situation at MSG, Oakley said "it's a plantation over there" while referencing how the Knicks are run by Dolan.
