The Knicks may have good odds to land Kevin Durant, but there is still one team in front.
The Nets have the best odds out of the top teams in pursuit of Durant, as Odds Shark puts them even. The Knicks, then, come in second at +300 with the Warriors at the same odds as well.
These new odds come after Durant officially declined his $31.5 million option with Golden State, and became a free agent. Now, with four days left until free agency kicks off, teams will be gearing up for their pitches to entice the 10-time All-Star.
Other than the top three, the Clippers come in at +800, Lakers at +900, and the Mavericks at +1000. The Lakers, specifically, are trying to make room to add another max player.
Based on the NBA's current collective bargaining agreement, the Warriors can offer Durant a five-year, $221 million max deal, while any other team, including the Knicks, can offer a four-year, $164 million max deal.
Sources told SNY's Ian Begley last week that even though Durant's ruptured Achilles would keep him out for most, if not all, of the first year of a contract, some people in the Knicks organization would still feel comfortable adding the two-time Finals MVP in free agency.
