Jerry Schuplinski is expected to be hired as the Giants' new quarterbacks coach, reports Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.
Schuplinski coached with the Patriots during the same time as new Giants head coach Joe Judge. From 2013-18, he first served as an offensive assistant and then as their assistant quarterbacks coach.
He spent the 2019 season with the Dolphins as their assistant quarterbacks coach.
Before he was traded to the 49ers, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was coached by Schuplinski with the Patriots, and he had high praise for him.
"I can't even tell you how many conversations I had with Jerry just man-to-man, him helping me out and getting me acclimated to the NFL life," Garoppolo told WEEI.com in 2018. "I really thank him for that. I probably wouldn't be where I am at without him."
"He was with me from day one," Garoppolo added. "Josh McDaniels was our quarterbacks coach, but Jerry was my quarterbacks coach at the time. He taught me all the ins and outs of the playbook. Anything I had a question on, he was my guy. He was extremely helpful.
Jacoby Brissett, who excelled this season with the Colts, also had great things to say about Schuplinski.
"He's definitely one of my favorite coaches I have ever had. I say that sincerely," Brissett told WEEI.com. "He's a guy I consider more of a friend than a coach."
