Every Monday, we'll be taking a look at how the Yankees' top prospects (their MLB.com Yankees Top-30 rankings are in parenthesis) are faring.
Deivi Garcia, RHP, Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (No. 1, MLB No. 66) -- ETA 2020
Some believe that Garcia might see some time in the big leagues this season. A courtesy call-up could be in store, but the chances of Garcia providing meaningful innings are dwindling as he's been torched by Triple-A batters in his four turns through the RailRiders' rotation.
Garcia allowed six runs in five innings in his last start and Triple-A batters are now hitting .311 off of the right-hander, as he's surrendered five home runs in his 19 innings with SWB.
Estevan Florial, OF, High-A Tampa (No. 2, MLB No. 67) -- ETA 2021
Florial is riding a modest four-game hit streak in which he's rapped six hits in 17 at-bats, including two triples and a home run. Florial drove in six runs during the upswing, which has boosted his batting average to .238.
Luis Gil, RHP, High-A Tampa (No. 4) -- ETA 2022
Gil's second start with Tampa was one to toss out the window, as the righty coughed up five runs in just three innings. Gil walked two and struck out two and will look to right the ship in his next outing.
Anthony Volpe, 2B, Rookie Advanced Pulaski (No. 11) -- ETA 2023
Volpe played sparingly this past week, but grabbed four hits in 14 at-bats. Over a longer stretch, Volpe has lifted his batting average to .218 from .125 by going 15-for-45 since July 16.
Alexander Vizcaino, RHP, High-A Tampa (No. 14) -- ETA 2022
The 22-year-old right-hander has found instant success in High-A, allowing just two runs in 12 innings across his first two starts. Vizcaino pitched to a 4.41 ERA in 87 1/3 innings for Charleston, but struck out 101 batters in the span.
Nick Nelson, RHP, Double-A Trention (No. 15) -- ETA 2020
Nelson continues to impress, hurling six scoreless innings, scattering four hits and three walks while striking out three batters. Nelson has allowed just four runs in his last 31 1/3 innings, which has lowered his season ERA to 2.61 in 58 2/3 innings.
Trevor Stephan, RHP, High-A Tampa (No. 16) -- ETA 2019
Stephan, who is clearly experiencing a resurgence, followed up his no-hitter by scattering seven hits in 5 1/3 scoreless innings. Stephan did not walk a batter and struck out three. The effort lowered his ERA to 5.45 in 66 combined innings (including Double-A Trenton).
Michael King, RHP, Double-A Trenton (No. 20) -- ETA 2019
King, who spent the first three months on the injured list has endured a rough return to the Tarpons rotation. In two starts (seven innings combined), King has allowed 13 runs including 10 in his Saturday start. King was expected to make great strides this season, but the injury has obviously set his timetable back some.
