The Yankees blow a 2-1 lead in the eighth inning as they fall to the Mets, 4-2, at Citi Field. >> Box score

5 takeaways from Tuesday's game...

1) Adam Ottavino couldn't hold the Yankees 2-1 lead in the eighth inning, due to an infield error and a bullet double to the center field wall by J.D. Davis. Zack Britton came on with the bases loaded and promptly allowed a two-run double to Michael Conforto that gave the Mets a 4-2 lead.

2) James Paxton went six innings, scattering eight hits, including a solo home run. Paxton threw 103 pitches and was aided by a couple of inning-ending double plays when the Mets were threatening to score. Paxton's effort dropped his ERA to 4.09 for the season. Paxton also contributed two sacrifice bunts, the first driving in a run.

3) Gleyber Torres drove in his 48th run of the season with a second-inning single. Torres, arguably an All-Star snub, is now hitting .295.

4) DJ LeMahieu went 0-for-4 (with two strikeouts) to end his 14-game hit streak in which he hit .484 (30-for-62). LeMahieu is hitting .341 and still leads the American League in batting average.

5) The Yankees went 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position, a far cry from the offensive blitz they displayed in London this past weekend.
