The Yankees snapped their three-game losing streak by beating the White Sox, 8-4, at Guaranteed Rate Field. >> Box score
Five takeaways from Saturday's game...
1) Yankees starters have performed poorly of late, but the club's opener, Chad Green, has been doing his part when he starts a game. Green struck out six batters, all six outs he generated in his two innings of work and allowed just a single. In Green's last 11.1 innings he's racked up 19 strikeouts, walked just one hitter and owns a 1.59 ERA.
2) Nestor Cortes Jr. once again followed up Green and performed quite well, tossing five innings of two-run ball with seven strikeouts to earn his first career MLB win. Cortes threw 54 of his 75 pitches for strikes and had thrown 13 scoreless innings across his last four appearances before Jonathan Holder allowed two of the left-hander's inherited runners to score.
3) Gleyber Torres homered as part of the Yankees' four-run third inning. It was Torres' 15th home run of the season and he now has 36 RBIs.
4) Gary Sanchez singled in two runs and drove in another with a groundout. Sanchez has driven in 43, which is just two behind Luke Voit, but the Yankees catcher has done it in 16 fewer games.
5) In the middle of the game, reports surfaced that Edwin Encarnacion and his home run parrot were coming to New York via trade from the Mariners. With the Yankees getting Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge back in the very near future, it would seem that Clint Frazier's time with the major league club will be coming to an end. Further, Frazier's tenure with the organization is now more in question as he is the team's best trade chip (for starting pitching that the club desperately needs) considering he possesses a major-league ready bat and the potential for improved outfield defense. The move would also seem to shift Brett Gardner to the bench for most games with Stanton set to spend an abundance of time in left field. Encarnacion will likely share time with Voit at both first base and designated hitter.

The Yankees finish their four-game set in Chicago Sunday at 2:10 p.m. LHP James Paxton (3-3, 4.04 ERA) is the Yankees' scheduled starter, while the White Sox are set to send RHP Odrisamer Despaigne (0-1, 4.50) to the hill.
