Five things to know about Monday's game

1) Yankees starting pitcher Domingo German was erratic (five walks), but equally elusive (seven strikeouts) in his five innings of work. German allowed just one hit and an unearned run. The young righty will continue to get action this season as a starter and reliever, which will hopefully help him become more consistent.

2) Brett Gardner, who struggled mightily at the plate in the Baltimore series, went 2-for-4 with his first home run of the season. Gardner also added his first stolen base of the season.

3) Gary Sanchez hit his second home run in as many days, but was also charged with his third throwing error of the season. To be fair, replays showed that the throw was quite good. Sanchez has been moving well behind the plate in the early going, something that will be monitored carefully.

4) Aaron Judge notched his first extra-base hit of the season, a double off the right-field wall in the seventh inning. Judge was stranded, but he made a fantastic diving play in the top of the eighth that save the Yanks at least one run.

5) The Yankees' bullpen hurled four innings of scoreless ball, with Aroldis Chapman earning his first save of the season. This is how the Yankees draw things up: five and fly from the starter and four shutdown innings from the bullpen.
