The Yankees fell to the White Sox 10-2 on Friday night at Guaranteed Rate Field. >> Box score
Four takeaways from Friday's game...
1) CC Sabathia entered the night searching for his 250th career win, but it wasn't in the cards. Given an early 1-0 lead, Sabathia surrendered the lead right away in the first inning, as Eloy Jimenez lifted a three-run home run. On a night that the Yankees needed a longer outing from their starter, CC went just 4.2 innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on 10 hits while striking out just three.
2) Luke Voit crushed his 17th home run of the season in the top of the first inning to give the Yankees the early lead. Voit's blast made Friday's game the 17th-straight contest in which the Yankees have homered, tied for the second-longest streak in team history.
3) Aside from Voit's solo shot, the Yankees could not solve White Sox starter Lucas Giolito, who earned his Major League-leading 10th win of the season. The right-hander pitched six innings, allowing just one earned run and striking out six. His season ERA is now just 2.22.
4) Gio Urshela committed an error in the second inning, and then had another ball go through his legs in the sixth that was ruled a double but probably should have been another error. The second play led to Jimenez's second three-run shot of the game, breaking the game wide open at 10-1 in the sixth inning.
