Five takeaways from Sunday's game...

1) James Paxton had a rough outing on the road. His first batter, Charlie Blackmon, took him deep to lead off the game and it may have been an omen for the rest of the way. He allowed seven runs, four earned on five hits while striking out six and walking three over 3.1 innings. Paxton's ERA has now rose to 4.20 on the year.

2) DJ LeMahieu, facing his former team, had another shot against them. After Blackmon roped a leadoff homer, he lead off the bottom of the frame with a solo shot to right field on the first pitch from German Marquez. This came after a 3-for-4 performance the night before.

3) Mike Tauchman, who has had a hot bat lately, hit a homer in the fifth off Marquez. He's brought his average up to .248 on the season.

4) Aaron Hicks tried to force a comeback with a two-run homer in the eighth inning. He finished the day 1-for-3 with a walk as well.

5) Though Paxton had a rough time, the bullpen didn't once he came out in the fourth. Chad Green went 2.1 innings, allowing just one hit and no runs. Adam Ottavino, Stephen Tarpley and Aroldis Chapman allowed just one, unearned run between them as well as four total hits.
