The Yankees enter the series on a five-game winning and with Gleyber Torres and Gary Sanchez coming off a monster series against the Baltimore Orioles. Torres has gotten a hit in 11 of his last 12 games to raise his average to .302 and has seven home runs in that span, all of which came against Baltimore. ... Sanchez has three home runs in his last four games and has gotten a hit in nine of his last 11 games to raise his average to .276, which is 42 points higher than this point last year.

Who is starting for the Yankees?

LHP J.A. Happ (3-3, 5.16 ERA), who has struggled to find consistency this season, allowing six runs on nine hits in just 3.2 innings to the Orioles on Tuesday but managed to walk away with a no decision. Happ had allowed just three runs over 5.1 innings in his start before that, also against the Orioles.

Who is starting for the Royals?

RHP Jakob Junis (3-5, 5.69 ERA), who has struggled in his career against the Yankees. He is 1-3 with a 6.43 ERA in fours tarts against the Bombers, which includes a 6-2 loss in which he allowed four earned runs on six hits over 5.1 innings earlier this season. .... Junis went seven innings his last itme out but took the loss after he allowed five runs, four earned, on six hits against the Angels.
