The Yankees made a minor move to add to their pitching staff on Tuesday, reportedly agreeing to a minor-league contract with right-hander Nick Tropeano.

The deal, reported by MLB Network's Jon Heyman, includes an invite to 2020 spring training in Tampa, Fla.

For the 29-year-old Tropeano, agreeing with the Yankees is a New York homecoming, as he grew up in West Islip on Long Island and attended Stony Brook University.

Originally drafted by the Houston Astros in the fifth round of the 2011 draft, Tropeano was traded to the Angels in November 2014. Overall, he has appeared in 42 games over parts of five seasons at the big-league level. His best season with the Angels came in 2016, when he started 13 games and recorded a 3.56 ERA with 68 strikeouts.

The 6-foot-4 right-hander has also dealt with injury issues during his career, as Tommy John Surgery caused him to miss all of 2017 and 2018. He also had his 2018 season shut down in early September due to shoulder issues.
