The Yankees fell to the Seattle Mariners, 1-0, in a wild 13-inning game on Tuesday night.

Here are the takeaways...

- Gerrit Cole looked to bounce back from his abysmal performance last time out and he happened to be facing the same team. Cole was dominant in every sense of the word on Tuesday night in Seattle. The Yankees ace tossed seven shutout innings, striking out eight batters while allowing just four hits. Cole clearly made his fastball the focal point of his arsenal.

- Unfortunately for the Yankees, Luis Castillo was even better than Cole on Tuesday. The former trade target threw eight scoreless innings, striking out seven batters. Castillo's first two starts in a Mariners uniform came against the Yankees, and this was his first at T-Mobile Park.

- The Yankees and Mariners headed to extra innings scoreless. In the top of the 10th, the Yanks made a costly baserunning mistake. After Josh Donaldson walked to set up second and third with nobody out, Andrew Benintendi was cut down on a double steal attempt in between second and third. The Yanks would not score in the 10th.

- Scott Effross came on for the Yanks in the bottom half of the tenth and pitched a scoreless frame. Unfortunately for the Bombers, more unfortunate baserunning would be in their future. In the top of the 11th, Aaron Hicks lined a shot right at second basemen Adam Frazier and Miguel Andujar was caught leaning at second base for a double play. The Yanks would go scoreless in 11th.

- Wandy Peralta took the ball in the bottom of the 11th and again the Yanks somehow escaped with a scoreless frame. But, again, more head-scratching baserunning from the Bombers. Isiah Kiner-Falefa grounded a ball back to the pitcher and Jose Trevino was caught in between second and third. Kiner-Falefa was then cut down trying to advance to second, which completed another double play. Scoreless in the 12th for the Bombers.

- In the bottom of the 12th, Lou Trivino worked himself into a bases loaded and two outs situation. On a 3-2 count, Trivino got Eugenio Suarez swinging to end the threat. We would go to the top of the 13th inning. Gleyber Torres found himself in a bases loaded one out situation and struck out swinging on a slider inside. Andujar then weakly grounded out to end the frame.

- The Mariners would finally end the game in the bottom of the 13th on a walk-off RBI single by Luis Torrens off of Jonathan Loaisiga
