The Yankees' offense came alive in the seventh inning on Tuesday night when Neil Walker hit a go-ahead three-run home run to lead his team to a 3-2 victory over the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium. >> Box score
1) JA Happ allowed just one unearned run -- a sacrifice fly -- in six innings. He allowed four hits, walked three batters, and struck out six while throwing 102 pitches.
2) In the seventh inning, the Yankees took advantage of Brandon Workman's shakiness on the mound: Aaron Hicks and Gary Sanchez both drew walks before Walker's three-run blast against Ryan Brasier.
3) Zach Britton earned his sixth save of the season, but not before running into trouble. Gleyber Torres and Britton both committed errors, which led to the Red Sox scoring an unearned run to trim New York's lead to 3-2. Britton regained his composure and got Ian Kinsler to ground into a double play to end the game.
4) Aaron Judge went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in his much-anticipated return to the Yankees' lineup.

If the Yankees are able to reach the division series, they shouldn't be fearful of J.A. Happ getting the Game 1 or Game 2 start against the Red Sox. Happ has delivered great results against the Red Sox throughout his career (2.98 ERA in 105 2/3 innings coming into tonight) and Friday's game demonstrated he can handle Boston's potent offense.
Give Yankees manager Aaron Boone credit for going with Walker at first base to get some lefty batters into the lineup. Walker was allowed to stay in the left-handed batter's box as Boston skipper Alex Cora opted to stick with a righty with a southpaw warmed in the bullpen and the veteran rewarded Boone and the Yankees.
These games might not matter for catching the Red Sox for the division crown, but every win helps ensure home field for the Wild Card game and might help the Yanks' psyche if they meet their arch rival in the division series.
What's next
The Yankees and Red Sox will return to action on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. at Yankee Stadium.
